Do you want to develop expertise in the field of climate change? Do you want to contribute to the efforts to combat the impacts of climate change?

The Institut Pierre-Simon Laplace Climate Graduate School (IPSL-CGS) brings together many of the most esteemed scientists in the Paris area working in the field of climate change. It provides an exceptional opportunity to prepare for a master or a doctorate degree and to work with cutting-edge research laboratories and internationally recognised institutions highly placed in the Shanghai ranking of world universities*.

The IPSL-CGS is proud to invite international undergraduate and master students to the first IPSL Virtual Summer School on “Climate Change: Challenges and Issues for the Earth Sciences”, which will take place from July 1st to July 3rd 2020.

 

The program will include:

- Scientific webinars and online discussions on climate change observation, modelling and the consequences for humanity and biodiversity.

- Practical information on studying in the Paris area (video presentations and online discussions from current and past master and PhD students on career opportunities and openings).

Some of the themes addressed are :

- The Climate System: a few decades that changed many things

- New Trends in Climate Modeling: anticipating the future

- Impacts and feedbacks of marine biogeochemistry and diversity

- Exploring Earth observing systems

- The solar system: the sister planets of the Earth

- Recent news from past climate

- And now: our future?

 

Prerequisites

- Please note that your presence on-line is expected for the entire duration of the virtual school. We will make our best to adapt to the different time zones of the participants.

- Material conditions :internet connection and videoconferencing material (at minimum a tablet or computer with microphone and speakers).

- The working language of the Virtual Summer School will be English.

 

Applications

- Open to applicants with undergraduate (B.Sc) and master (M1, M2, or equivalent) qualifications in physics, earth sciences, environmental sciences or related fields

- Candidates will be selected based on their CV and motivation

- Deadline for receipt of applications : 16th June 2020
